Advantages and Disadvantages of Primary Charge Roller

Roll charging is the mainstream technology for charging in laser printers. Unlike the traditional corona charging method, roll charging adopts the contact discharge method.

1. Advantages: It has a simple and compact structure, high charging efficiency, can achieve low-voltage charging, reduces the generation of ozone and nitrogen oxides, which is beneficial to environmental protection.

2. Disadvantages: If the charging is not uniform, it will lead to uneven image density and produce periodic stripe spots. Therefore, a pulsed alternating current bias voltage must be superimposed while applying a direct current voltage to improve the uniformity of charging. Thus, great attention must be paid to the charging capacity and the performance parameters of the charging frequency spectrum of the charging roller.

Currently, in some laser printers, the charging brush roller composed of conductive polymer fibers is used for charging. Utilizing the principles of micro-discharge and contact discharge, it combines the advantages of the above two charging methods and can achieve a uniform charging effect and obtain high-quality image output.
